COUNTRY TELEPHONES.
APPRECIATED BY MAORIS. [ur telegraph.—own correspondent.] Gisiiorn'e, Thursday. The Maoris in this district make great Use of the telephone and a great gathering has just been held at Muriwai, natives «oin all parts of the district being present, lor the purpose of collecting funds to carry a private- line through from Gisborne to-Wharerata, a distance of some 30 miles. Over £100 has to far been subscribed.
