EGG-LAYING COMPETITION.

The thirty-eighth week of the North Island Enslaving Association's second competition v.::* coneluded on Friday at Cambridge. The number of eggs laid during the week was 1504, the total laid since May lb last being 53.277. The highest layings for the week are :—Light breeds: Clark and .Sons' white Leghorns, 35; C. D. Beatson's white Leghorns, 33; Waikato Times' white Leghorns, 32; Auckland A. and I'. Association's white. Leghorns, 32. Heavy breeds: T. Dowthwaite's buff Orpington*, 30; E. Vealc's black Orpingtons, 29; C. Hammond's white rocks, 29. Leading pens to date are:—Light breeds; Harrison and Uratton's white Leghorns, 1075; Waikato Independent's white. Leghorns, 1027; C. I). Beatson's white Leghorns, 1018. Heavy breeds: E. Veale.'s black Orpingtons, 1054; Cambridge Chamber of Commerce's white Orpingtons, B*s; Waikato Central A. and V. Association's black Orpingtons, 836.
