TRAMWAY ACCIDENT.
CONDUCTOR TERRIBLY INJURED. A TRAM conductor named George Taylor sustained shocking injuries through falling of! car No. 74 last evening. The accident occurred at the corner of Dominion Road and New North Road. Taylor's car was coming from Kings-land, and, not noticing a car ahead, went over the stopping place. When it was seen that there was a car in front the other car commenced to go hack.
Taylor was standing at the rear of car No. 71- at the time, pulling the pole down to clear the trolley, and ho overbalanced and fell off, although the car had almost stopped at the time. When picked up ho was found to be terribly injured. His ead was badly cut, and his right ear was almost torn off. He was attended to by Dr. Porter, who found him suffering from concussion of the brain, with further injury that pointed to fracture of the base of the skull.
The injured man was taken to the Auckland Hospital by Mr. Lysaght, the traffic manager of the Tramways Company, and was admitted for treatment. He is in a precarious condition.
