YOUTHFUL ADVENTURERS.
THE WAIHI BOYS. Two boys of 14, named Richard Thomas and Leslie Green, were charged at the Police Court on Saturday, before Mr. Dyer, S.M., with the theft of a shirt, valued at 4s 6d, from the shop of Mr. G. Fowlds, Queen-street, and wcepingly admitted their guilt. These were the boys who, about a month ago, -entered on a career of adventure by absconding from their homes at Waihi. Travelling by various means they ultimately reached Timaru, where the police found them, stranded and destitute. Their parents forwarded money for their return, and they were sent back, but left, their carriage at Ohakune. From Ohakune they got to Auckland by travelling in concealment on the train. They were discovered some distance from Auckland by the guard, but got away at Remuera. The adventurous career of the two boys was finally checked by the Auckland police, who arrested them on the above charge.
Mr. Dyer committed the boys to tho Levin Training Farm.
