REWARDS FOR BRAVERY.

At a meeting of the Royal Human Society yesterday the following awards, among others, were made:—Fritz Ekman, bronze medal for rescuing Arthur Smart and Colin Wright, aged 12 and 14 respectively, from drowning, at Karekare, Auckland, and for attempting to rescue Roland Entwistie, aged 14, from drowning; John Proud, certificate for rescuing Roland Entwistie from drowning at Karekare Bay, Auckland, on December 30, 1907; Alfred W. Paget, lette? of commendation for rescuing J. McTavish from drowning at Auckland on December 27, 1907; Douglas Hamilton, silver medal for rescuing Nellie MeArthur from drowning at Gisborno on August 12; Constable Clark, certificate for attempting to rescue Jas. Barnett from drowning at Auckland, on August 26, 1908; Reginald Tuck, silver medal and framed certificate for rescuing' Dora Dalrnclei from drowning at Rotorua on September 25, 1903; Mrs. Hataraka Temepara, framed certificate for rescuing' Pori Kapa from drowning at Tolago Bay on January 1, 1909. In the case of Cecil Bruce VValrond, who rescued Thomas Brown from drowning at Auckland on October 3, 1908, it was stated that, this was the fifth occasion on whicft Wahond had saved a life, and the directors thought that further inquiry should be made into the previous cases, so that they would be able to fully determine the merit of ms bravery. The"directors could not see their way M reward Daniel Weir, of Gimmerburn, Otago, who rode a number of miles in a blinding snowstorm for medical assistance for a lady.
