KAMO RACES. [I!Y TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHAXUAREI, Friday, The Kaino races were held to-day, and there was a large attendance. The weather held fine until the third race, when a cold, drizzling rain set in, and continued for an hour. The racing proved interesting, and some close finishes were witnessed. In the last race of the day Freeman, the rider of Waimana, came a nasty spill through his horse running into the fence when rounding the bend. lie was stunned, but soon came to. The horse escaped with a lew cuts. The results arc : — HI'RDLES.-Lady Lauta, 1; lot-hard, 2; Peter Simple, 3. Won easily. Four others started. MAIDEN RACE.—Locblea, 1; Highland Fling, 2: Irish Girl. 3. Four others started. A splendid finish. Won by half a length. KAMO HANDICAP.—Quebec, 1; Sweet Marie, 2; Shrewsbury, 3.
