MYSTERIOUS BURGLARY.

Wellington*, Friday. A case of supposed housebreaking, with certain elements of mystery attaching to it, was reported to the police on Wednesday night. It ie alleged that somebody entered the residence of Dr. McKcnzio at the comer of Willie and Ghuznee Streets, and, after rummaging through several rooms, departed without taking anything more than ss, contained in an envelope. Dr. and Mrs. McKenzie are at present away on holiday, and two servants were left in the house. While they were out last night, it is said; the entry was effected. One of them returning at about 10.35 o'clock, raftthat the light was switched on in an upper room. She went into the house, discovered traces of the presence during the evening of some person or persons, and at once called for help. A Mr. Baldwin was at hand, and, after a brief investigation, telphoned for the police. A constable was eoon on the scene, and went through the house. There were no indications of the manner in which the entry had been made. Upstairs some of the bedrooms were disarranged, but jewellery and other valuable* had been left untouched. In the kitchen there was a tumbler smashed on the floor, and an envelope which had contained 5s torn open. The money was missing.
