KING MANUEL THREATENED. By Telegraph.—Press Association—Copyright. Lisbon, December 20. King Manuel, on recently returning to Lisbon, drove from the station to the palace at full gallop, surrounded by cavalry. His act was much criticised until the arrest of Julio Mendes, an ex-police officer, proved that a secret society had arranged to attempt his assassination.
