OLD AGE PENSIONS.
PAYMENT OF POSTMASTERS. Special remueration is to be granted to non-permanent postmasters and postmistresses who are required to pay old age pensions. In a letter to Mr. W. H. Herries, M.P. for Tauranga, the PostmasterGeneral (Sir J. G. Ward) states that his suggestion, made in the House of Representatives on August 4, has been adopted, and the allowance payable will be at the rate of 3d for each old age pension paid.
