GOVERNMENT NEGLECT.

Sir,—Will you help us to get justice to our district by having a decent railway service? I believe the Kaipara line pays the Department better than any line, and yet they are. doing their best to block and retard the district. I give you an instance. L came by train one day, and we stopped half-an-hour to allow another train to pass, and . yet we arrived to time, thus giving a clear proof that if they liked they could run a much faster service. It is a scandal the way the Railway Department are treating this part of the country. All we want is a fast passenger service, not a cattle-truck service Another thing is our Hot Springs. The Government seem to run Rotorua for all they aro worth, and neglect us. We have 12 up-to-date porcelain baths, with mineral water up to 135 degrees, and also a swimming: bath Bft deep, and also an up-to-dato Baths Committee, who mean to make them a success, although they have to fight the railways. No one in Auckland has an idea of the splendid curative properties of these waters. We have a. new building, and everything comfortable for visitors, and I certainly think it is very disheartening; to the Domain. Board that the Government do not advertise this boon by running an ordinary fast service at least once a day, and week-end trips. Anyway, give it a trial daily, as the people are simply disgusted with travelling in a coal and goods train. Arthur E. Tyer. Heionsville.
