GRAFTON ROAD METHODIST CHURCH. *

The Grafton Road Young Men's Bible Class held the opening ceremony and, dedication service in connection with the opening of their new classroom on Saturday- and Sun-, day last. At the opening ceremony on Saturday the Rev. G. W. J. Spence introduced the chairman of the district, the Rev. G. Bond, who said ho trusted that with such a loader as Mr. G. A. Buttle the young men would receive much spiritual uplifting in' their new classroom. Mr. ' John Burton, Sunday-school superintendent, then addressed the meeting, and presented a silver, key with inscription to Mrs. G. A. Buttle,; who officially -< opened : the room. .The company then adjourned to a' garden party held in the grounds of Mr. and Mrs. J. Lawry, under the auspices of the young ladies' Bible class.;'. Here some very fine music was rendered by the Franklin ; Road Primitive Methodist Band, who kindly. gave „ their services. The ladies dispensed afternoon tea, -and a very pler.sant afternoon was spent. On _Sunday afternoon a short dedication service-was conducted by the Rev. G. W. J. Spence. The meeting was then conducted in the usual manner, and the visitors -were afforded an opportunity of seeing the modus operandij of the class, the subject for discussion being "Can God's .Purposes be Changed?" • ■ ; ,;„

AROHHILL ROAD BOARD.

." The Archhill Road Board met last evening, when there were present: Messrs. F. Rowe (chairman), J. Jenkin, J. Ewan, P. J. Hawkins, and •*■' J. H. Houghton. The previous resolution of the Board that Bondstreet be exempt from the" conditions made by Order-in-Council, that no building be erected at less distance * than' 33ft from the centre of tho street, was confirmed, and it was decided to forward a copy to Wellington. The desirableness of a connection being established between the New North Road and Great North Road was again brought up by Mr. J. Jenkin, and it was decided that Mr. Rowe should consult with the chairman of the Mount [ Albert Road Board in regard to the matter.

AUCKLAND MINISTERS' ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the Auckland Ministers' Association was held yesterdayafternoon in the vestry of Knox Church, ; Parnell. The Rev. J. A. Luxford occupied the chair. There was a good attendance. Correspondence in connection with the coming visit of Dr. Chapman > and Mr. Charles Alexander was dealt with. The Rev. A. Miller, M.A., convener of the Temperance No-license Committee, presented his report, which was full of encouragement and thankfulness for the results of the local option poll, and a resolution was adopted, embodying thankfulness for the substantial advance in temperance sentiment. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Miller for his earnest and devoted labours during the year. Mr. G. H. Ralph, missioner to seamen, in connection with the work of the British and Foreign Sailors' Society, presented his _ first quarterly report, "which" was adopted, with a number of suggestions for: the advancement of the work. The hon. treasurer, the Rev. G. B. Monro, reported that thero was a balance to credit of £76 : lis 6d, with more subscriptions to bo collected. A committee on Sabbath observance was elected, consisting of the president and the .Revs,,Lyon, Day, North, and D. D. Scott (convener). The hon. treasurer reported , that lie had a balance ot £3 2s 6d in hand. The retiring * president, the Rev. J. A. Luxford, gave a brief resume of tho work of the year. The election of officers for the year resulted as follows: — President, the Rev.* G. B. Monro, St. Luke's, Remuera; < vioe-nresidents, the Revs. J. A. Luxford and W.
