The King has , approved ;of the appointment of Sir George Le Hunt© as Governor of Trinidad. Sir George Ruthven Le Hurite is at pre* sent Governor of South : Australia, ; which post he has - occupied since May 14, \ 1903. He is 66 years of age. Sir George L«. Hunte .was for some J time - private secretary > to Sir Arthur Gordon (now ! Lord ; Stanmore)', who was first Governor of Fiji in 1875, and served in various offices in that colony: until 1887. He was ■'' Judicial ; Commissioner 8 for
the Western Pacific in 1883, President;' of Dominica from -1887 to 1894, Colonial Secretary of Barbadoes from * ; 1894 'to 1897, Colonial Secretary of Mauritius in 1897, arid Lieutenant-Governor of British* New Guinea, from 1898- to 1903. He was -created C.M.G. in 1898 and K. CM. G. in 1903.
