[feX tTEMGItAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
Pwnkuin, Saturday. The Mil burn Lime and Cement Company has received notice that it has been awarded a gold medal at the Franco-British Exhibition, London, for its exhibit of Portland cement. This is particularly gratifying information where a colonial industry is concerned, since the Milburn Lime Company's exhibit was by special request placed in competition with the exhibits of the world. > = '*''":
Advice has been received by the same company that the machinery recently ordered in America by the general manager (Mr. F. Oakdcn) has been shipped from New York. This machinery will form part of the installation, which will be the largest south of the line. The kiln to bo installed is 100 ft long by Bft in diameter, and will be capable of turning out four times the quantity of cement that the existing plant produces.
