. year, shopkeepers have decided not to observe the half-holiday in Christmas week. They will, however, keep open till 11 p.m. - on Thursday, and close on Friday and
• Saturday. It is sot compulsory for them to close- on Saturday, but that day will be observed in order to give the assistants greater liberty. At New Year the shops j\ will be closed on Friday, January 1, but will open as usual next day.
