MEETINGS.
WOMEN'S POLITICAL LEAGUE. A mketikg of the Women's Political League was held in the Pittstreet schoolroom, Mrs. Rule presiding. In connection with the recent local option poll the members were unanimous in expressing their disapproval of inebriates under treatment at Bell's Island being allowed to vote. Such person* wero considered to be practically prisoners Much gratification was expressed at the fact tnat drastic measures were being taken to cope with the increasing number of cases or assaults on children, and it was hoped that the severe sentences recently passed at the Supreme Caurt would deter others from evil, doing of this nature. In connection with the new Hospital and Charitable Aid Board Bill, promised by the Minister for Health, it was decided to ask him to ensure that women should be eligible for seats thereon, either by appointment or election. ..
