RIFLE-SHOOTING.
' VICTORIA RIFLES. The Victoria. Rifles concluded the competition for the Preston-Yeo trophy on Wednesday after a series of interesting competitions. Private W. Cox is the winner, scoring eight points. The following are the aggregate points gained, by competitors in all matches: —Private W Cox, 8 points; Private J Ciirlseii, 6, Private Mclvor, 6; Private John Preston, 5; Private Dixon, 5; Private J B. Preston, 4; Corporal D. Jones, 4; Private G. Farley, 3; Private F. Preston, 3; Private S. Rowe, 2; Sergeant J. Anderson, 1. To-morrow the company will fire for Captain Cox's trophy and commence the match for Hallenstcin Brothers' trophy. A trophy will also be given for recruits. The scores will also count for the first shoot in the second round of the champion belt competition.
GORDON RIFLES. The Gordon Rifles commenced their annual Abbott challenge shield competition at Penrose last Saturday. The ranges are 200 yds, 300 yds, and 500 yds, and the first-mentioned range wag completed. The highest B class scorer at each range also receives a trophy. The first winner, turned up in Sergeant Ashton. Appended arc some of the leading competitors' scores A Class: Sergeant Graham, 31; Colour-Ser-geant Parker, 28", Sergeant Martin, 26; Corporal Wright, 23. B Class: Sergeant Ashton, 26; Private Hall, 23; Private Mcßeath, 21; Sergeant Cameron, 20. A further stage will be fired to-morrow
