"OF NO IMPORTANCE."
[BT TELEGRAPH.—-OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
- Wellington, Thursday. The Rev. W. J. Williams, president of the Wellington No-license Council, states that no importance is , attached by local prohibitionists to-the failure to insert an extra clause in the local option ballot papers. He states that • the provision for an increase of licenses was merely intended to meet the case of a sudden influx of population to a goldfield, and was never meant to apply to ordinary electorates; . The point has not been raised at any, previous ballot. It has been considered "by the local representatives of the no-license party, but they are not at all concerned about it. /ALLIANCE RESOLUTIONS. . Another resolution expresses gratitude that so many good friends of the cause have been returned to Parliament, especially the Hon. G. Fowlds and Mr. T. E. Taylor, and regret* the defeat of such staunch supporters as the Hon. R. McNab and Mr Atkinson. .
