In the case of : V, Birkenhead and Waikumeto, the sitting. j members were elected. Following are the 1 results of the polls: • j" T j Birkenhead: Mr. Thos. Horton (sitting [, v member), 93 votes ; Mr. John Broady,'66; majority for Mr. Horton, '27. Waikumete: Mr. Alex. Cochran (sitting' member), u 128; Mr. C. J. Mills, majority for Mr. Cochran, 86. Exclusive of this return the voting was as follows :—Mr., James ... ■ Atkinson, 68; Mr. A. M. Lang; 64. Shonld the Huia votes be cast in favour of Mr. Lang, that gentleman may yet win the seat. ,: In any case, the contest is so close as to be interesting. The final result will he knoyru | to-day. Titirangi is a new riding, so there is no' sitting member. > .V - Kaukapakapa: The returns for this riding; were not completed, but the unofficial fignm available showed that the sitting member. j Mr. Frank Dye. bad polled 118 votes, anil his opponent, Mr. J. i)rinnan, 44. , Wainui: Returns from 10 of : the 12 poll-ing-booths in this riding gave Mr. A J.
