Alfred Wallace formulated the evolution hypothesis .simultaneously' with Darwin. He is keenly interested in land nationalisation, socialism, anti-vaccination, astronomy and occult phenomena; and is one of the leading authorities on matters pertaining to natural history. He has published more than '20, volumes, including " The Wonderful Century," Man's Place in the Universe," "The Malay Archipelago," "Miracles and Modern Spiritualism," " Australasia," and his Autobiography, which;- is a wonderful story, charmingly told. *
