SATISFACTORY QUALITY. The shipment of butter by the s.e. lonic from Auckland to London totalled 2297 .boxes./.The s.s. Victoria took 340 boxes for South Africa, and the s.s. Hauroto 211 boxes for the South Sea Islands, while there were just on 3000 boxes in etore yesterday for export. The total output of Auckland factories during the past fortnight for export was thus 584$ boxes, or 146 tone. In the corresponding fortnight of last year 2585 boxes went U London, 350 to South Africa, and 302 to the South Sea Islands, a total of 3237 boxes, or 80 tone, and thus the make for export for the fortnight ended this week exceeded that of the corresponding fortnight of last year .by 66 tons. - Roughly speaking, the export output for this fortnight is worth over £14,000. ' The quality of the butter is being well maintained, and the graders are looking for better flavours from now on. A wonderful improvement in flavour, body and texture, colour, salting, and finish has taken place in Auckland butter in tire last three years, and, in fact, in that period the industry lias developed marvellously. The factories are paying very real attention to the necessity for turning out absolutely the beet butter possible, and the improvement in the finish of the article and the nice, clean packing speak volumee for the manner' in which the local representative* of the dairying division have aroused the ; enthusiasm and secured the co-operation of managers of butter factories.
