THE RUGBY GAME. WEDNESDAY UNION'S "SMOKER,/ Tub Wednesday Tradesmen's Itugby Union held its annual smoke concert in the Federal' Hall last evening, the gathering being presided over by the president (Mr. George Tatt). A number of toasts were honoured and musical items rendered. Messrs. Blackburn, Brown, Thomas, Becker, Mo K\v«n, Walsh, .lames, Hamilton, I'ritchard, and Lonergau contributing to the programme. During the evening a presentation was made by the union to Mr. George Tutt (president) of a photographic shield. Mr. Stewart, in presenting the shield, eulogised the loyal support Mr. Tutt had given the union. It was mainly due to Mr. Tutt's assistance, that the union was still in existence. The recipient suitably . responded. The championship cup (won by the Butchers' senior team) and the caps won by that team and by the J'ost, Telegraph, and Railways team (winners of the junior championship) were presented by the president. Saturday's game under the Northern Union rules between Otago and Southland amounted to £28 6s. and the profits derived therefrom total £50.
