Ma. L. G. H. Ward, late of the Karori, has been appointed purser of the 6.8. Takapuna. The Revs. Brockelhurst and Spencer arrived from tho South yesterday by the Rarawa. The Hon. Kathleen Plunket arrived in Auckland by the Rarawa yesterday. She ,is the gues't of Mrs. T. C. Williams, of Remuera> Mr. G. W. Murray has been nominated by" Auckland and Wanganui as a member of the executive of the New Zealand Educational Institute for the North Island. Mr. M. Herrold, for the past eight years manager of the Napier branch of the New Zealand Insurance Company, has received notice of his promotion to the management of the company's branch at Buenos Ayres. The marriage of Mr. Cyril Ward and Miss Davidson {according to the Post) is fixed for December 5, the date of Sir Joseph and Lady Ward's silver wedding. Miss Ward and Miss Gladys Webster are to be the bridesmaids, and Mr. Will. Prouse best man. Mr. Edward Wilson, a well-known licensed victualler ;in the Wellington district, died at the Club Hotel, Lambton Quay, of which ho was licensee, yesterday, after a short illness. The deceased was born in Cumberland (England) in 1830, and came out to Port Chalmers in 1875. Ha worked at the Otago Foundry. Duncdin, on what was claimed to be the first railway engine turned out in New Zealand. At one time Mr. Wilson was a fellowsWpmate of trie late Mr. Seddou. His •econd. wife survives him.
