'■'■.. ,D UN i'.d IN, Monday. The ladies' golf championship of New Zealand was opened tin's morning, ' with 32 entries, playing over '18 , holes. The weather was fine in .the morning, but heavy rain fell in the afternoon.
The following are the results: Mrs. Buckley ,(Oatnaru) beat Miss G. Gome (Auckland), 1 up; Miss C. Kettle (Christchlurch) beat Mrs, Warburton (Manawatu), by default; Miss Roberts (Otago) beat Miss Gorrie (Auckland), 6 tip, and 4 to play; Mrs. Mellsop (Manawatu) beat Miss Brandon (Wellington), 2 up; Miss Revell (Timaru) beat Miss W. Scott (Otago), 2 up and 1 to play; Mrs. SargooTT (Otago) beat Miss S. Williams (Otago), at the 19th hole; Mrs. Allan , (Otago) beat Mrs. G. Todd (Otago), 3up and 2to play; Mrs. Mackie (Otago), beat Mrs. Handyside (In-vei-cargill), 3 up and 2 to play; Miss Mill (Otago) beat Miss Potheringliam (St. Clair), 1 up; Miss M. Beswick (Oamaru) beat Mrs. Gilray (Otago), 4 up and 2 to play ; Mrs. Fergus (Otago) beat Mrs. Cox (Timaru), 2 up; Miss Gould (Otago) beat Miss L. Brandon (Wellington), 4 up and 2 to play; Miss , Campbell (Ohristchurch) beat Miss K. Rattray (Otago), 2 up and 1 to play; Miss Standish (New Plymouth) beat Mrs. Mcintosh (Invercargillj, 9 up and Bto .plav; Mrs;. Matheson (Timaru) beat Mrs. Ward (Otago) at the ,19th hole; Miss Christie (Oamaru) beat Mrs. McCarthy (St. Clair), 4 up and 3 to play. The medal handicap was played iii the afternoon. Miss Fotheringham (St. Clair) and Mrs. C. Turnbull (Otago) tied with a net score of 77. The runner-up was Miss Standisli (New Plymouth).
