FIRES.
TALLOW WORKS GUTTED. I [BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] | Dunedin, Monday. The Co-operative Fat "and Tallow Company's works at the cuttle yards, the principal shareholders in which are the butchers or Dunedin city, was destroyed by fire at about 11.30 to-night. The information to hand is that the building hate been burned to the ground- and everything destroyed. The building and machinery are set down as being worth about £1000, while there was a quantity of prepared manure on hand to the value of about £350. There would also be a quantity of tallow on the premkes, but the exact amount is not available, and the actual loss is, therefore; not ascertainable. The building and plant were insured in the Manchester office.. OUTBREAK AT TE- AROHA. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] . TbAroha, Monday. A fire broke out on Saturday night in a cottage owned by Mr. A. J. Farmer, and occupied by Mrs. Given and family. The occuoante of the dwelling had gone out, leaving a lamp burning on a tnble. The fire brigade extinguished the flames, but most of the contents of the house were destroyed or damaged. Both house and furniture were insured, the former. for £100 in the New Zealand Office, and the furniture for £20 in the Royal.
