COTTON TRADE CRISIS.
'300,000 IDLE HANDS. By Telegraph.— Association.—Copyright. London, October 2. It is expected that next week 300,000 employees will be thrown idle as a result of the strike in the cotton trade.
The dispute in the Manchester cotton industry is caused by the proposal of the millowners to reduce wages all round by 5 per cent. The operatives accepted the masters' terms, but ,tho cardroom workers rejected them. Their decision paralyses all the other departments.
