Dr. Mason has informed a Press repre-ij sentative that .the 'Maori who had beenVdischarged as cured of leprosy from Quail .; Island, after a. stay there-of-11 months' ' duration, was healed of his malady by the ; '-: Nasliri treatment, which the doctor explained had been introduced some time . back by Professor Deycke Paska, of Oon- * ' stantinople, where he is in charge of « leprosy, institute. The- treatment, which • '■: . consists of an injection of a culture of the * bacillus of leprosy, which acts in much the } same way as,tuberculin, lias been.followed'; with considerable; success. Dr. Mason, who ; had been in communication with Professor ,; Deycke, applied the ' Nastiri;,treatment .tit | •; the patients isolated on Quail Island with. :i very satisfactory. results. The Maori has now been discharged as cured, although A- ! ; the disease has left its mark on. his bands ■; and feet.
