DEATH OF A VETERAN.
Another, of the defenders of the Dominion has passed away in the person of Daniel Kennedy, late H.M. 18th Regiment,, a resident of the Veterans' Home, who died on Tuesday evening. The deceased was born in Dublin. He entered the militia of that city at an early age, > and lai'terwards joined the Royal Irish Regiment, the 18th Foot, at Londonderry, doming with his regiment to New Zealand and fighting throughout the Maori war, principally in the 'J'aranaki district, under General Chute. He, was awarded the Nfew Zealand medal. He entered the Veterans 5 Home three years ago, and about eighteen months later was smitten with total blindness. Through tho kind tutelage of Mr. Clias. Frayling, principal of the Blind Institute, he quickly learnt to * read * again, which proved a great comfort to him. Defeased was of superior education, and ,bore "an exemplary character, being a general favourite among his comrades. The funeral will take place this afternoon with military honours,' the interment being at, the Waikaiaka, Cemetery,:
