NORTHCOTE ROADS.
IMPROVEMENT PROPOSALS. For some weeks past the Korthcote Borough Council have had under consideration proposals for the permanent formation and improvement of several of. the principal thoroughfares of the borough. The Council accordingly instructed Mr. M. R. Creagh, the borough engineer, to report upon various roads and submit estimates of the cost of the works suggested. The report was received at Tuesday night's meeting of the Council, when it "was decided to hold a special meeting in committee next Tuesday evening, in order to go into the whole matter, the engineer also being instructed to prepare alternate estimates of the cost of (a) widening the cutting near the wharf an additional 15ft in order to allow more room for vehicular traffic, and also for a. footpath; and (b) the cost of removing the whole of the earth on the western ride of the cutting. It was decided to approach the Auckland j Harbour Board in ordeT to ascertain if thai 5 body would be willing to erect a seawall for J the reclamation of the land at this-place. j The report of the engineer did not deed 1 with this work, and, irrespective of this, j his estimates of the impiwements i subj mitted totalled nearly £6000, a loan for which sum would be required to be sanctioned by the ratepayers.
