COMING ELECTIONS.
CANDIDATE FOR MASTERTON.
[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] Eketahttna, Wednesday. Mr. John Hunter, a candidate for the Masterton seat, Addressed the electors of Eketahnna at the Public Hall last evening, about 100 being present. Mr. AH. Herbert. (Mayor) occupied the .chair. Mr: Hunter expressed strong views in favour" of the option for the freehold for, fanners, extending the same to lands for settlement, also for a more vigorous policy of closer settlement. He believed that the Conciliation and Arbitration Act should be abolished as hopelessly beyond repair,' and wages beards, composed of employers and em. ployees, substituted. The speaker said lie was an independent Government supporter. He also favoured no-license. Mr. Hunter answered several questions to the apparent satisfaction of the audience, and was accorded a unanimous vote of thanks. THE WAITEMATA SEAT. Mr. L. R. Phillipps, Opposition candidate for the Waitemata electorate, will address the electors in the Foresters' Hall, Devonport, to-night. .
