ARBITRATION COURT.

Wellington-, Wednesday. At the Arbitration Court to-day Thomson, Lewis, and Co., aerated water manufacturers, were charged with paying Jess than the award rate to two Jiachine bottlers. The Court decided simply to record a breach in the case. Humphries 'Bros, were cited for a breach of the award in the plasterers,' dispute, in having employed a. non-unionist plasterer- The Court simply recorded a breach. J. Rod, butcher, was cited for employing Edgar Cornelius at less than the award rate. The Court held that the breach had been committed deliberately, and a fine of £5 was imposed on the respondent, and against Cornelius a breach was recorded. A similar case was that against Mr. Manua for paying less than the award rate to his cook and his waitress, Maggie Whit ford and Emily Hyland, respectively. The respondent was fined £5 in respect of the two cases, and breaches were recorded in the cases of the two employee*. Charles H. Williams, hotelkeeper, was fined £2 foi employing John Stockbridge at less than award rate of pay. Stockbridge was fined 10s. The Levin Meat and Cold Storage Company was fined £2 for employing Charles Bolton, at less than the award rate/ and Bolton was fined 10s. The Court was asked to decide whether the employment, of a waiter for the period of one week at 50s was a breach' yj the casual labour clause of the award, which fixes wages of casual labourers at 10s a day for the first three days., bat after that at ordinary wages.
