Kips were specialty active. MORE IMMIGRANTS. Melbourne, August 20. The s.s. Oswestry Grange, which arrived from Liverpool to-day, brings 235 immigrants for New Zealand. RIFLE SHOOTING. Brisbane, August 20. At the Rifle Association meeting Sergeant Edwards, New South Wales, won the ICing's Prize with a score of 232 points, Private Goy, Queensland, being second with 228 points, and Hyde, Queensland, third with 226 points. CASUALTIES IN SHAM FIGHT. Sydney, August 20. In the course of a. sham fight in the Liverpool district, during a cavalry charge over rough country, Captain Wedd was unhorsed and badly injured, while several men were slightly injured, and two horses were killed.
THE FOOTBALL CARNIVAL. Sydney, August 20. The British footballers visited Newcastle yesterday and defeated the Northern Rugby Union (Newcastle and Maitland) team by 32 points to nil. The visitors completely outclassed the local team, and showed great superiority, both forward and back. Melbourne, August 20. At the Australian football carnival Tasmania defeated Queensland by 22 goals 22 behinds (154 points) to 2 goals 2 behinds (14 points).
