The world's sculling champion, W. Webb, is -expected to arrive m Auckland on August 6.
The Commissioner 'of Police! Mr. W. Dinnie, is. expected to visit Auckland during this week.
' The Rev. Canon Mayne, who arrived from Sydney by the Wimmera on Sunday, left for- Napier yesterday.
Archdeacon Williams and Dr. Brett left Napier for Auckland by the Monowai last night, and will reach Auckland to-morrow.
Mrs. F. Cock, wife of Mr. F. Cock, one -the oldest residents of Paeroa, died on Monday evening (telegraphs our correspondent). Deceased, who was 55 years of age, was well known and respected. A grown-up family, survive her.
Mrs. ii. E. Tolhurst, wife of Mr. G. E. Tolhurst, inspector for New Zealand of the Union Bank of Australasia,, died at her residence, Wellington, on Saturday morning. Since her return from England at the. end of last year, Mrs. Tolhurst':, health had been the cause of increasing anxiety to her friends, and her death was not altogether unexpected. The funeral took place privately on Sunday.
