LOST WITH ALL HANDS.
FATE OF AN AUSTRALIAN-BOUND VESSEL. • - ( Underwriters interested in the overdue barque Marie, which left Delagoa Bay, South Africa, on February 3 last, for Adelaide, have given up all'hope of the vessel turning up. It is believed that the barque has gone down with all hands on the run across the Southern Ocean. > When the vessei was first reported as being overdue, it was thought that she had to contend against head winds. But 174 days have elapsed since she left South Africa, and fears for the worst are now entertained. , In ordinary circumstance* the voyage should have occupied 50 days winch is a fair run for a sailing vessel to "South Australia. ' _ During April and May vessels which arrived from Great Britain by the Cape route reported exceptionally rough weather m the Southern Ocean. Evidently the Marie has encountered these roUgh conditions, and probably she had been overwhelmed. The ■Marie was a Norwegian barque of 1344 tons m command of Captain Jacobsen '
