THE WAIKATO SHOW.
INTERESTING EXHIBITS. ' The weather* was finer for the second day of the Waikato winter show at Hamilton yesterdaj, and the attendance showed an improvement, a large number of visitors coming in from the country districts. Advantage lias been taken of the occasion to organise" a subscription for the local hospital, and the ladies of th« township have taken tip the work with a zeal that augurs well for the success of their efforts. In the evening the exhibition was .very well patronised, and the Hamilton Town Band played selections at intervals. ' ' The championship for the best local bird in the show (poultry division) was won by Major Milsom. ..' ! The' show will close to-morrow evening, by which time the remaining classes (including the dogs section) will have been judged The Maori division, for which fair entries have been received, has also yet to be judged. There is a very fine display in this department, comprising native- foods, dress, ornaments, and implements, and the* exhibit has' attracted a good deal of interests . Another exhibition that has ; ocasioned con siderable comment is a special show' of wool, , root*, mutton, etc., from Horsham Downs, ; which, prior to August, 1905, was a wilder* ness of teatree. and fern, but is now carrying 3040 sheep and 157 cattle. The quality of the exhibits is certainly an eloquent .testimonial to [ the capabilities "of: the district. ' '" ' . _ "'; ..'■'■ ;' . "
