CUSTOMS EXPERT'S EXPENSES.
CASE OF MR. SHANNON. [BY TELEGRAPH. —rHKSS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. Mr. Davey, member for Christchurch East, asked the Minister for Customs in the House of Representatives to-day if he could give the House any information as to what the Government had done in the matter of the travelling allowance paid the Customs expert, Mr. Shannon, and brought by him under the notice of the House last year? The Hon. ,1. Millar replied that the agreement had been terminated. The position now was that the expert in question received £1 a day 'ravelling allowance when actually travelling.
