CRICKET.
Mr. J. G. Cranfiold, the well-known cricketer, who died a couple of months ago, left estate of the value of ,'£161,300. ' A one-time prominent cricketer is dead in the person of Colonel Kenyon-Slaney, M.P. for Newport (Shropshire), at the ago of 59. The colonel, whose name became familiar of recent years in connection with national education matters, played for the Marylobone Cricket Club against counties, and in other matches, also figuring frequently fot such ■ leading clubs as I. Zin2ari and the Household Brigade. He was a capital bat and a smart field. Colone l Slaney also' made his mark in Association football, playing for England in the seventies. . - ... The death is announced in his eightieth year of the Rev. Edward V. Bligh, uncle of the present Lord Darnley—better known on Australian cricket fields as the Hon. Ivo. Bligh. The deceased was himself a fine cricketer in his young days, having been one of Oxford University eleven in 1850. and subsequently doing excellent work for - Kent .. County. Ho was a forcible hitter and a destructive slow round-arm bowler.
