AUCKLAND CENTRAL MISSION.

': Farewell to mr. hemery. - . ■ A large company of people assembled in the Central Mission Hall, Albert-street, last evening to bkl farewell to Mr. and Mrs. C. f : '.' J. Hemery- Mr. Hemery has occupied the ,f,'. ' position of superintendent of tho Mission >p during the past 15 months, and in view of J his early departure for Australia was tendered a farewell social by the Mission members. The hall was lavishly decorated for i", . Iho occasion. Mr. J. J. Mucky, tho present If';.: ■".' superintendent, occupied the chair, and i-V.V spoke in terms of high appreciation of Mr. I;-... a Hemery. The various speakers who followed t all echecsd the same sentiment. ,&'.-'. After refreshments were handed round Mr. Hemery was presented with an iliuminated address signed by the officers of tho Mission. In replying on behalf of Mrs, Hemery and himself, he expressed his sin- |.:, cere thanks for the very kind things that had been said, and stated how unavoidable [■ absence from Auckland I had so interfered ;:-;';.....' with his work as superintendent that ho felt ho had not been able to do the position justice. •' He would always hold the welfare ',\ ' of the Mission at heart, and hoped after tho lapse of a. few months in Australia to bo able to return to the work with more undivided attention. ■'.'■',■ The choir and orchestra contributed to the :, > enjoyment of the gathering, and various ''.;' singers and instrumentalists ably assisted. ' , i To-morrow will be the last Sunday for both : ;, : j superintendent and mißsioner, as Mr. Her- '.' rue leaves next week for the South almost, ; nit the same time as Mr. Hemery leaves for %i "V Australia.
