SALVING THE GLADIATOR.
The Liverpool Salvage Association took over the salvage work on the wrecked cruiser Gladiator, and Lieutenant DamanL and his Admiralty staff of divers, who have already accomplished so much in the direction of recovering the ships confidential papers and books, retired in favour of the Liverpool firm. No further bodies have been recovered. The nine patients in Haslur Hospital are doing splendidly. Grendon, who was injured worst of all, enjoys his daily smoke, and the gentry in the neighbourhood send flowers, fruit, and other delicacies for the patients. Grendon' was only married recently, and he appeals far more concerned about his young wife than himself. The Mayor of. Portlt's disaster fund now approximates £3000.
