| ONLTIUXGA LITERARY CLUB. I Thicks: wan a gemd attendance, of members of the One:]lung* Literary Club at Holmes' Hall last evening, when the president, Mr. W. -V. Mcintosh, occupied the chair. "Ave Co-operative Societies Beneficial to the Masses?" was the subject of debate, Mr. H. J. Davies taking the affirmative. The debate throughout was full of interest, and an instructive evening was' spent. ONEHUNGA LIBERAL FEDERATION. A meeting of the executive - and council of the Onehunga Liberal and Labour Federation was held at the Foresters' Hall last evening, when Mr. E. G. Allsworth presided. Final arrangements were made in connection with the branch anniversary next Wednesday, ...when Messrs. J. Stallworthy, M.P., H. J. Greenslade, M.P., G. L. Peaeocke, R, H. MeVeagh, and T. Harlo Giles are expected to deliver addresses. MOUNT EDEN SCHOOL COMMITTEE. At a meeting of the Mount Eden SchoolCommittee, Mr. AY. Cole in the chair, a letter was received from the Board of Education requesting the assistance of the committee in the fixing of boundaries for the Edendalo district. After discussion, the following resolution was l carried:"That seeing the action the Mount Eden School Committee have taken for many years towards ■ securing a school for Edendale, and that in connection with the site selected the committee have been ignored, and feeling that this site is useless so far as relieving the Mount Eden school is concerned, this committee has no advice to offer regarding the boundaries of the Edendale district." It was agreed to notify the Borough Council that the ommitiee would not bo responsible for any accident arising from the dangerous condition of the wall on the Valley Road boundary. The Board forward-, cd for the consideration of the committee a proposal' o acquire a strip of land adjoining the school property. The committee could not see its way clear to recommend its purchase. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to Captain Miller, of H.M.s. Pioneer, for his presence, accompanied by a squad of bluejackets, at the celebration of Empire Day, to Mr. F. Crespin for organising the gathering, and to the Devonport Ferry Company for the free conveyance of the cadets to the warship, on the invitation of the commander. Five tenders were received for the supply of school requisites, and there were referred to the chairman and secretary, with power to act. The average attendance for May was 832, and the number on the roll 927. ' '
