Information has reached the Tourist Department from Mr. W. A. Neale, of Tapui, Waikaremoana, to the effect that the deer arc thriving well in the district, and that some very tine heads have been seen, (telegraphs our Wellington correspondent). The herds are spreading well round the lmke. Two herds were liberated in this district, one. about eight years ago., and the other about six years since. There were half-a-dozen deer iti each case. It is probable that in a few years the district will be opened to deer stalkers.
