DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB'S WINTER MEETING.

' For-an off day ; the ; attendance was fairly go&d. The sum of £6332 10s wag put : through the totalisator, as against'£B7s6 ,10s for the second day last year. The investment* for the two days ' showed an increase of £733 on the two days of the last winter meeting. Going out of the straight Grandstand raced to the front, . but was shortly joined by Storm. Along the back coming to the straight Stormoiit ran to the head of affairs, and at the distance Storm challenged, but Stormoiit won by a full length. Gioivenbr being a good third. Time, 3m. 23 3-ss. After about a furlong had been traversed Gold Dredge and Kaikomako were out in front together. Gold Dredge headed Kaikomako at the foot of the straight, and at the distance he was passed by Assault, who won by three lengths from a bunch of four, consisting of Kaikomako, Gold Dredge, Muskatator, and Siikweb. Cu'irosettia and White Cockade jumped away almost together and held the lead tor a short distance, when they were joined by Restless. Inside the straight it looked a fair thing tor Restless, but In the last 150 yds The Libyan put in a great run, followed by Lady Disdain, and in an exciting finish, these two made a dead heat, with Luresome a good third.. Apollodoris, Thunderer, and Paragon were left at the post, and Field Gun ami Probable made the running, with Spinning Flight lying next. After going half-a-mile .Spinning Flight took command, and at the distance seemed. to have'the others beaten, but McCornbe.made a great run on Probable and won by a little more than, , a head from Spinning Flight, with Clanehattan a good third.
