[hv n:i.i:r;i!.U'ii.— own <~ ,o .vnK.vr.] OtSBORxi: Thursday. The Borough Council sat until one o'clock this morning discussing the matter >f drainage. The Council already lias a report from Mr. Mestayer, of Wellington, assessing the cost of' a, complete drainage* scheme at £120,000. 'this is considered somewhat beyond the means of the community at present, and at the previous meeting of the Council it was resolved, on the casting vote of the Mayor, to engage another engineer from the South to report. The Mayor had informed the Southern man of his appointment, and after a. heated debate the motion engaging the second engineer was rescinded.
