Dunedin to-night, and were enthusiastically welcomed by large crowds on the platform, outside the station, and along the streets. -, The footballers were met at Christchurclr 1 by -Mr. Geo. Thomson, as representing the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, and at Palrnerston by Messrs. J. Hutchison, pre-; sident of the Otago Rugby Football Union.*P. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night the appointment of Dr. Crawford, of Invercaigill, as 'referee, in the BritishOtago match was agreed to. A suggestion from the Otago Union that a practice match between the New Zealand team and Otago be played on June 3 was not acceded to, the committee considering that the element of risk to the players was too great. Mettam was appointed referee for the junior match on Saturday, and Mr. J. Sliersou referee for the schoolboys' match. Two players reported for rough play in a recent senior match came before the union, and were cautioned. Mr. Bush was appointed manager of the representative team to visit Waikino on Saturday, and Mr. C. Mettam was appointed junior representative selector. THE ASSOCIATION" GAME.
