At an inquest at Meanco, touching the death of John Tracer, an old resident, who died while staying the night at ? neighbour's house, the jury returned the following verdict, "That deceased met his death from 'enlargement or fatty degeneration of the heart." . Jensen and others and the Bank of Australasia. in connection with the winding up of the Hawke's Bay Timber Company, has received notice that the case will commence on July 1 before Mr. Justice Cooper. The case is' a long standing one, and is exciting a great deal of interest. Chiustchubch, Thursday. Mr. John Duthie, of Wellington, who is visiting Christchureh in connection with the contract for supplying pipes for the city water supply scheme, £tates that 300 tonswill arrive by the Corinthic by the middle of June, and a further large quantity in. July, besides valves and hydrants. The municipal baths were opened to-night in the presence of an attendance of about 1000 spectators.
