Mr. Widdowson, S.M., at Dunediiv the other day, in, convicting two men for being in a hotel after hours, said, "People must understand that there are 110 minutes of grace after ten o'clock. They must be out of tho hotel at ton," Mr. Hay submitted that, as the licensing law allowed a publican to sell drink up to temo'cloek the customer must be allowed a resSonablo time to drink it. Mr. Widdowson replied that the law compelled the publican to close his bar at ten o'clock. Mr. Hay inquired whether a man served just on the hour must carry his drink out to the street, but the magistrate held that the space of half a minute was enough for the customer to get. it down.
