In the House of Commons the motion- of Mr. J: Johnson (Liberal member for Gateshead), urging the. Government to take steps to speedily terminate the license of opium dens in Crown colonies, was accepted by the Government, and unanimously agreed to. Sir Edward Grey (Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs) emphasised the remarkable results that had been achieved in China in so short a time. .
