The truth of the saying that one story is good until the other side has been told has just received further exemplification. Mr. T. E. Taylor, of Ohristchurch, lias been making considerable capital out of th& fact* that the rates in Oaraaru have been reduced by 3d in the £, owing entirely to no-license. '' The real reason which- caused the reduction of the rates in that borough is, however, asserted by a- newspaper correspond-*. ent to be the increased rental from the reserves belonging to the borough which were recently "hold by Messrs. Campbell and Co., along with the Otekaike Estate, which has just .J been acquired by the Government.
