As the owners of the larger collieries have resolved thai if the Eight Hours in Mines Bill becomes operative before June ."0. 1900, they will raise the price of coal by Is 6d per ton on existing contracts, covering the interval, Mr. Herbert Gladstone (Home Secretary) intends to move that the Bill shall not come into operation until that date.
