AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY.
Thk monthly meet tug of the Presbytery of Auckland, was held in St. Andrew's Hall, Symonds-street, last evening. The Moderator, the Rev. Ivo Bertram, presided.
Loan not Needed: The. Presbyterian Church at Matamata, which some time ago applied to the Presbytery for permission to raise a loan of £100 for a church building, wrote asking to be allowed to withdraw the request, as £100 of £335 required had been raised by a bazaar. The request was granted.
Home Mission Work : The reports of the Home Mission stations showed, in most cases, a satisfactory improvement in finances and attendances.
New Church Sites: The report of the committee. on the purchase of church sites at Mount Albert and Mount Eden were considered. With regard to the former the Rev. W. Gray Dixon stated that the site, kindly secured for the church through the instrumentality of Mr. .1. C. Entrican, was an ideal one. A meeting of church adherents in the district had been held, at which considerable enthusiasm had been shown, and a number of donations promised towards a church. It was thought, that the charge would soon be a self-supporting one. Mr. .1. C. Entrican had donated £25 towards the new church. (Applause.) Mr. J. C. Entrican stated that the new site had a frontage of 242 ft. It was a splendid block, and if the finances would permit, the whole of it should be kept. Mr. Malcolm McGregor had done the legal work in connection with the transfer free of charge. (Applause.) The committee's action was approved of. After transacting some minor business the Presbytery adjourned.
