NEW YORK CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. New York, April 12. Jay Gould defeated Eustace Miles for the " real" tennis amateur championship of New York by three sets to one. Immense interest was taken in the match and many seats were sold at 50 dollars apiece. I>£st year Jay Gould beat Y. PenJieil by three sets to nil, and qualified to meet E. H. Miles (holder) in the final round, and won by three sets to two.
